The 24th Annual Cambio de Colores (Change of Colors) Conference will bring together researchers, educators, community leaders, and advocates from the whole nation committed to strengthening integration and well‑being for immigrant and newcomer communities.
June 3-5, 2026 | Columbia, Missouri
Hosted by the Cambio Center at the Center for Missouri Studies in Columbia, MO, this year’s gathering embraces the theme “En Comunidad, We Rise: In CoMo, We Lift Each Other Up!” — a call to collective action rooted in shared stories, lived experiences and community‑driven solutions. The warm, collaborative setting near the University of Missouri campus sets the stage for three days of learning, connection and inspiration.
For the last 13 years, Alianzas has been part of the organizing committee together with other Cambio Center’s fellows, faculty and researchers.
This year, Director of Alianzas, Gerardo Martinez, will be presenting with Susan Schmidt, UMKC-IHD Director of Strategic Partnerships and Outreach, on Semillitas: A Kansas City Culturally Responsive Early Childhood Program. Funded by the Hall Family Foundation, the Early Childhood Mental Health Collective program was launched in 2025 at the UMKC-IHD in partnership with Cornerstones of Care with an aim to improve access to mental health services for children, families and staff in the KC Metro area. This presentation will provide an overview of the importance of philanthropic partnerships and how funding opportunities like this one can improve our communities.
