Fiscal Year 09
An initial planning meeting explored ways to reach out to Hispanic newcomers and
to bring cultural awareness training not only to UME staff, but also to the
business community in the region. The method of delivery would be to
identify how the HISpanic migration influences the bottom-line in their
respective communities.
Two Regional Specialists supported the Alianzas Cultural Academy. Furthermore, one participant requested a mini Academy for this region, which is being explored with the Regional Director and the regions training needs.

In March 2007, Alianzas awarded $1,500 to support the provision of
educational materials for county offices, booth space at festivals and other

Also, $1,500 was awarded to support the participation of two regional
agricultural business specialists in the conference "Sowing the Seeds of
Success: Harvesting the American Dream."
